چکیده
Background: Nephrotoxicity refers to the toxigenic impact of compounds and medications on kidney function. There are a variety drug formulations, some medicines that may affect renal function in multiple ways via nephrotoxins production. Nephrotoxins substances harmful kidneys. Purpose: This investigation examines renoprotective effect gymnemic acid (GA) Wistar rats gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity by analyzing serum, kidney, histopathological markers. Study-design/methods: The current study investigated protective GA at doses 20, 40, 60 mg/kg against rats. Vitamin E was administered compare antioxidant capacity efficacy GA. In addition treatment groups, 100 gentamicin intraperitoneal for 14 days. At end protocol, homogenate, blood, serum were evaluated biochemically. Serum creatinine, blood urea, glomerular filtration rate (GFR), mitochondrial dysfunctions, inflammatory cytokines, oxidative stress examined assess nephrotoxicity. addition, above-mentioned nephrotoxic markers further confirmed histological analysis. Results: establishes correlation between antibiotic use, especifically aminoglycosides acute failure. research demonstrates effects aminoglycosides, inducing ETC-complex dysfunction, tissue inflammation experimental GA’s properties restored markers, reducing injury. Histopathological analysis revealed significant reduction injury with treatment. Additionally, demonstrated greater than restoring potential enzymes. Conclusion: Consequently, our findings imply long-term use be suitable therapeutic strategy aminoglycoside toxicity. suggests treating failure, meriting using advanced techniques.

Proceedings: Evidence of gentamicin nephrotoxicity in patients with renal allografts.
Renal damage was assessed by measuring urinary enzyme excretion in 180 patients with renal allografts. Thirty-six of these patients were studied during 53 courses of treatment with antimicrobial agents which was the only antimicrobial agent which was associated with an increase in urinary enzyme activity. There was usually also evidence of reduced renal function. Renal morphological changes sim...
متن کاملLong-term protection of polyaspartic acid in experimental gentamicin nephrotoxicity.
Polyaspartic Acid (PAA) protects the kidney from experimental gentamicin nephrotoxicity despite large increases in renal cortical gentamicin content. In these experiments, prominent cytoplasmic vacuoles were noted in all animals that received PAA with or without gentamicin. The present study showed that there were no renal structural or functional consequences of PAA given alone or with gentami...
متن کاملAlterations in renal cortex cation homeostasis during mercuric chloride and gentamicin nephrotoxicity.
To help better understand the role of changes in cellular cation homeostasis in the pathogenesis of renal tubular cell injury, the alterations in cation content of renal cortex and isolated renal cortical mitochondria occurring during models of nephrotoxicity secondary to gentamicin and HgCl2 were determined both during a developing phase of injury prior to the appearance of cell necrosis and a...
متن کاملCurcumin Attenuates Gentamicin-Induced Kidney Mitochondrial Alterations: Possible Role of a Mitochondrial Biogenesis Mechanism
It has been shown that curcumin (CUR), a polyphenol derived from Curcuma longa, exerts a protective effect against gentamicin- (GM-) induced nephrotoxicity in rats, associated with a preservation of the antioxidant status. Although mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark in the GM-induced renal injury, the role of CUR in mitochondrial protection has not been studied. In this work, LLC-PK1 cells...
متن کاملProtection from gentamicin nephrotoxicity by cephalothin and carbenicillin.
In rats, cephalothin exerts a protective effect upon the nephrotoxicity of gentamicin. To examine the possibility that this effect is also observed with carbenicillin, we gave the following (milligrams per kilogram) to rats daily for 14 days: gentamicin alone, 60; gentamicin plus cephalothin, 100, 500, or 1,000; gentamicin plus carbenicillin, 50, 100, 250, 500, or 1,000. A 500-mg/kg dose of cep...
